解説

東京藝術大学油画科で副手の頃の油彩画。青色基調の混沌とした室内空間に横たわる女性の後ろ姿。室内に射し込む鋭角な黄色の光が、裸体のフォルムを浮かび上がらせている。形態は背景に溶け込み無重力空間にたゆたうかのようである。形あるものは、いずれ朽ちるという絹谷の「無常観」が息づいている。多感な青年期の不安や孤独が凝縮されたかのような、深い情感をかもし出している。

Commentary

This oil painting was made when Kinutani worked as an assistant at the Oil Painting Department at the Tokyo National University of Fine Arts. Again, a girl lays down in a chaotic space against a blue-tone background. The sharp yellow ray of sunshine outlines the form of the naked body. As if to float in zero-gravity, all shapes and forms melt into the background. This is based on Kinutani’s “Mujo-kan” philosophy which teaches that all things are transitory. The work emits a profound emotion as if the anxiety and solitude of youth had been condensed.
